Our Mission

Helping People Grow In Their Relationship With God and With Each Other.  That is what we are all about at Community of Hope. Want to know God more? Become the person He created you to be? Help others do the same? Join us.

Fellowship

Christian fellowship is togetherness, connection, support, and safety, fueled by a common faith journey. It often connects us in ways we might not otherwise have considered but turn out to be a blessing. God created a whole world full of people and meant for us to be part of family. We are not meant to be alone.

Giving

We give financially to support the work of the church by covering expenses. Community of Hope operates on a very modest budget that includes charitable giving. All of our budget is covered by giving. We ask our members to contribute freely and cheerfully, without obligation. We trust in God’s provision both for our personal finances and the church’s work in the world.

Community of Hope Vision Words

Worship

Our songs, prayers, and Scripture readings during Sunday service lift up our praise and thanksgiving together to God. Music is a gift from God that has been used through the ages to connect and express ourselves spiritually. At Community of Hope our worship style is contemporary but heartfelt.

Character

Developing a Godly character is a lifelong journey that makes all the difference in how we engage in the world. The closer our relationship with Jesus, the more easily this happens. The worst parts of us - deeply hidden - must be cleaned out and replaced with love, self-control, humility, integrity, confidence, patience, and other such characteristics that are more like Jesus.

Service

As part of a family, we do our part within it. We believe that God has gifted each person with unique characteristics and skills that help fulfill an important role with our church body. Whether it’s setting up chairs, baking cookies, teaching kids, supporting those in need, or leading Bible studies, we want to serve others as Jesus did.

Evangelism

We want the world to know about the awesome truth of Jesus, evidence of the Bible (it’s the best book ever!), and why that absolutely matters. When we have experienced a good thing that has transformed our lives, we naturally want to share. Moreover, Jesus loves the world so much that he wants us to get the message out. If you have not yet experienced this, contact us right away!

What kind of church are we?

Community of Hope Church belongs to Charis Fellowship, a family of independent Canadian Christian churches following the Grace Brethren tradition. Historically, these believers strove to follow Jesus as best possible. They stood their ground regarding key things that have defined Christianity from the start, while challenging or rejecting certain religious and cultural practices that missed the point of what they understood Jesus taught.

Because we are essentially an independent church, we don’t technically belong to a denomination. Like all of our Grace Brethen sister churches, we are a mainstream Bible-focused Christian church that is theologically conservative but culturally relevant. We want to hold firm to Jesus’ teachings within a relational environment that is welcoming, comfortable, and adaptable to our immediate culture.

We believe that Jesus of Nazareth died for our spiritual salvation and rose from the dead to prove both the Bible’s truth and God’s power. We believe that entrusting our lives to this truth is the only way to fulfill our purpose through a true relationship with God, for now and for eternity. We believe that through the Bible, God has clearly shown us who He is, who we are, and how to make sense of our existence. We are careful to learn the proper historical, cultural, and spiritual context of the 66 writings that form the Bible, so that we can accurately apply them to our lives.
