The Seventh Trumpet

Dogs don’t understand humans. They don’t get why we stare at glowing screens, and can only grasp a small fraction of what we say. We’re in the same position when we read Revelation. We see vivid images and strange symbols, but we only understand a small part of what God is revealing. To uncover the truth, we have to dig deep.

So far, we have seen six of God’s angels blow their trumpets, unleashing destruction, death, and demons on the world. God released them so that He could destroy them. And now, the seventh and final trumpet is about to sound.

But first, Scripture describes the final seven years of human history: the last Great Tribulation. Daniel (Daniel 9:27), Jesus (Matthew 24:21), and John all point to this climactic period when evil reaches its peak before being overthrown. During this time, two witnesses—representing God’s people, both Jew and Gentile—will proclaim His Word for three and a half years (Revelation 11:1–14). The world will hate them for speaking the truth, kill them, and celebrate their deaths.

But then, God will revive the witnesses and bring them into Heaven, signaling a turn of the tide. The seventh trumpet will sound, and Heaven will declare that the nations of the world belong to God (Revelation 11:15). Then, the temple in Heaven will open, and God Himself will enter the battlefield. And just like that, the war will be over. God crushes evil simply by showing up.

Amid all the strange imagery, one message stands out: God reigns. His mere presence is the final woe for the forces of evil; absolutely nothing can stand against Him. So, keep Him close by digging deep into His Word. Invite Him to fight your battles for you, and trust that His victory is certain.
