cross on mountain
The answer to this question takes a few minutes to understand, a heartbeat to accept, and a lifetime to discover and enjoy. There is no limit to information out there, and you can never stop learning and growing. (That’s one reason to go to church every week!)
But for starters, here are some basic points about the Christian faith:
1. There exists one truth and reality that applies to everyone, regardless of belief, opinion, or awareness. (Think about it… one person may believe in gravity, a second person doesn’t believe in it, a third has no clue, and a fourth doesn’t care, and a fifth hates anything to do with science. They may have every right to their position, but what happens when they all fall off a cliff?)
2. God has proven His reality, and makes His presence known to all who seek Him. He is our Creator and the sustainer of life, and is the source of all good and love.
3. God created us as His special children, in His image, and gave us life. He desires to connect with us and for us to know Him, just as parents desire a good relationship with their children.
4. Although God created us as perfect in His own image, he also gave us the ability to choose our thoughts and behaviours. Sadly, we developed a natural tendency to choose wrongly according to our desires. This is known as sin. It’s not just the big stuff like murder and theft; sin includes anything, no matter how little, that separates us from a full relationship with a perfect God. Even the best person around still struggles with certain thoughts and actions, or has regrets about good things they have failed to do – yup, this also counts! It’s true: no one is perfect.
5. Sin has a negative consequence: death – the exact opposite of full and eternal life that God really wants us to have. Just look at the world around us – the beauty of God’s creation and His people is constantly being ruined by sin and the consequences of sin. No one is truly innocent in God’s eyes, and it makes Him sad.
6. Because of his infinite love for us, God gave us the gift of His son Jesus Christ. Jesus was born as a human but was fully God in nature. He came to earth to show people the way to fully follow God. But most importantly, Jesus’ death on a cross was an exchange: He took the death punishment for our sin. This was God’s plan from the very beginning.
7. After his death, Jesus miraculously resurrected (came back to life), showing that as God, he had the power to defeat death and the sin that causes it. He is alive – in Heaven and in our relationship with him.
8. We receive the gift of Jesus by acknowledging our sin nature, and by accepting how He gave His life as the only way to save ours. Our sins are forgiven – they still happen, but God no longer counts them against us. We have a fully restored relationship with God and all of the blessings that come with it. Moreover, we will continue to live forever with God in Heaven even after our bodies die.
9. What would you do if someone gave you a priceless gift that you didn’t deserve and couldn’t possibly ever repay? Our grateful response to Jesus is to live our lives for Him, out of loving desire to do His will in the world rather than follow our sin nature, and to share His wonderful gift with others.
bible - love
And this is all described in the Bible, a most incredible book we believe was fully inspired by God to teach us about Him and His plans for us. It is a powerful book in that it continues to teach us every time we read it.
You may have many questions about this, or some of it may seem weird or confusing. That’s normal… but keep chasing the truth! We pray that this is enough to get you started on a journey that will change your life. We can walk this incredible journey together.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” – Matthew 7:7-8

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” – Romans 1:20

Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” – John 14:5

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16
